Chronic Pain and Headaches

We are able treat chronic pain patients on a regular basis with a high success rate due to our multi-discplinary approach and our ability to offer services that most pain clinics do not.  Whether your chronic pain is a result of an injury, degenerative process, repetitive use or you are unaware what causes your pain, you do have options for treatment. We would love to discuss them with you. Triad Pain Management receives patient referrals regularly for individuals who struggle with chronic pain or headaches and have not been able to find effective treatment. To better understand how we can help you with your chronic pain; allow us to explain the origin of most chronic pain syndromes.

Basis of Chronic Pain:

The basis of the symptoms associated with chronic pain often results from the natural healing and repair process of the body. When damaged or injured spinal soft tissue (muscles, ligaments, tendons, joints, and discs) heal it commonly results in scar tissue and instability. Scar tissue is not flexible and can limit or interrupt movement of the muscles and joints creating pain. This pain can become a common occurrence or constant and will vary in sensation (dull pain, ache, stiffness, burning, throbbing, radiating into arms or legs, headaches, dizziness, nausea, blurred vision, and even auras common with migraines.)
The more traditional treatments offered at Triad such as trigger point injections, epidurals, nutritional supplementation, medications, chiropractic, massage and physical therapy may not always resolve your chronic pain syndrome or may only temporarily relieve pain. These treatments are affective in most cases but sometimes the underlying cause can not be addressed and the treatments ultimately fail. In these cases  we offer such solutions as Manipulation Under Anesthesia,  Prolotherapy, and Decompression.

How you can find out if your chronic pain is due to scar tissue:

There are diagnostic tests such as  computerized JTech spinal range of motion, MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray, and NCV, to help determine the cause of chronic pain. It is best to be evaluated by a certified pain management physician who focuses on muscular skeletal pain syndromes.

“It should be remembered that medicine is an art that uses scientific principles, but an art nonetheless. Some medical experts are more skilled than others. The clinician who specializes in pain management and has particular expertise in evaluating individuals claiming chronic painful problems post trauma deserves to have his/her opinions regarded carefully and with respect.”

-Thomas J. Romano, MD, PhD; American Journal of Pain Management

Have you been told by your doctor that you have a disc herniation and the only solution is surgery?

This is not always the case, based on published studies a very low percentage of disc herniations require surgery and after surgery your pain has a possibility of being much worse. Keep in mind that many people are living normal pain free lives with disc bulges and disc herniations. Discs are not always the cause of the pain; it is usually the surrounding scar tissue and inflammation responsible for the symptoms. Whether it be the surrounding tissue, facets, nerves, muscles or tissue causeing the pain we have the physicians and resources to diagnose the source of the pain. We also offer a wide variety of treatment options such as MUA, Prolotherapy, Trigger Point Injections, Decompression, Epidural Injections, Rehabilitaion, etc.

If you have had spinal surgery and find yourself in more pain you are not alone. Usually people who have spinal surgery are worse after due to more scar tissue being created during the surgery.

THE GOOD NEWS!

You may be a candidate for a proven procedures for chronic pain. Manipulation Under Anesthesia, Prolotherapy and Decompression are very effective non-invasive procedures for chronic pain and headaches.
